Walk Faithful Terms of Service

Welcome to Walk Faithful (“the App”), a guided prayer-walk and Scripture app operated by Robert J Hermanns (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. What the App is

Walk Faithful offers guided audio prayer-walk sessions, a daily Scripture verse and home-screen widget, walk streaks, an optional daily reminder, and an optional AI-powered walk companion. Scripture quotations in the App’s daily verses, guided sessions, and companion use the World English Bible, which is in the public domain.

2. Physical activity and safety

• Consult a physician before beginning any walking or exercise program, especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or have been advised to limit physical activity. The App provides no medical monitoring and cannot detect a health emergency.
• Stay aware of your surroundings. Audio sessions include periods of guided reflection and silence; remain alert to traffic, terrain, weather, other people, and obstacles at all times. Pause or stop the session whenever attention to your environment requires it.
• Never use the App while driving, cycling, or operating any vehicle or machinery. The App is for walking only.
• Keep the volume at a level that lets you hear your environment. Consider using a single earbud or transparency mode outdoors.
• Obey all traffic laws and signals, use crosswalks and sidewalks where available, and walk in safe, well-lit areas.
• If walking outdoors is not safe or practical, do not walk outdoors. A session is audio only and can be listened to anywhere.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you assume all risk arising from your physical activity while using the App, and we are not liable for injuries or losses resulting from walking, exercise, or inattention to your surroundings.

3. The walk companion is an AI, not a person

The walk companion is an artificial-intelligence feature, not a human being. It is not a pastor, priest, spiritual director, counselor, therapist, physician, or licensed professional of any kind. Its responses are generated by an AI model (Anthropic’s Claude, accessed through our server) and are offered for spiritual reflection and encouragement only. They are not authoritative theological doctrine, pastoral counsel, or a substitute for guidance from a qualified pastor, spiritual director, or faith community.

AI-generated responses can be incomplete or mistaken. Weigh anything the companion says against Scripture and the counsel of trusted people in your life.

4. Not medical, mental-health, crisis, legal, or financial advice

Nothing in the App — including companion responses — constitutes medical, psychological, legal, financial, or other professional advice.

The companion is not a crisis service. If you are experiencing a mental-health crisis or thoughts of self-harm, do not rely on the App: in the United States, call or text 988 (988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line); outside the US, findahelpline.com lists free, confidential helplines. If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number. The App surfaces these same resources when a conversation indicates crisis, but it cannot summon help for you.

5. Companion consent, limits, and acceptable use

• The companion is optional and requires your explicit consent before any message is sent for AI processing. Nothing is sent unless you press send. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your data as described in the Privacy Policy, or by contacting us; after that, nothing further is sent unless you consent again.
• Companion use is subject to daily message limits (currently 5 messages per day on the free tier and a higher limit for Plus) and a minimum interval of a few seconds between messages. We may adjust limits, apply safety filtering, decline to respond to certain content, or suspend the companion service for maintenance or abuse prevention.
• You agree not to use the companion to seek or generate harmful, unlawful, or abusive content; not to attempt to circumvent its limits or safety measures; and not to present its output as professional pastoral, medical, or legal advice.
• You can flag any companion reply with “Report”; submitting a report sends us the text of that reply and the reason you choose, for review.

6. Subscriptions and purchases

The App’s core features are free: the daily walk session, the daily verse and widget, streaks, and the limited companion. A paid tier (“Walk Faithful Plus”) unlocks every session in the walk library on any day and raises the companion’s daily message limit.

• Yearly subscription: US $39.99 per year effective October 18, 2026 (US $49.99 before that date). If an introductory free trial is offered at the time of purchase, its length is shown before you subscribe, and payment is charged to your Apple Account at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. The subscription renews automatically each year unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel anytime in your Apple Account subscription settings; access continues until the end of the paid period.
• Monthly subscription: US $6.99 per month effective October 18, 2026 (US $9.99 before that date). If an introductory free trial is offered at the time of purchase, its length is shown before you subscribe, and payment is charged to your Apple Account at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. The subscription renews automatically each month unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel anytime in your Apple Account subscription settings; access continues until the end of the paid period.
• Free trial eligibility: Apple makes an introductory free trial available once per Apple Account for a subscription group. If you have already used a free trial for Walk Faithful Plus, the subscription price is charged when you subscribe; the App Store purchase sheet shows the exact charge before you confirm.
• Lifetime purchase: US $149.99, a one-time purchase that does not renew and does not expire.
• Prices are set in App Store Connect and may vary by region; the price shown at purchase is authoritative. Prices may change for future purchases and renewal periods with notice through the App Store.
• Restore: use “Restore Purchases” on the paywall or in Settings to regain access on a new or reset device with the same Apple Account.
• All payments are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store terms; request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

7. Health data

With your permission, the App reads your step count from Apple Health (read-only) for the duration of a walk, and shows and keeps it with that walk’s record. Walk Faithful keeps these summaries locally and never uploads Health data, as described in our Privacy Policy. Separately, you can allow the App to write listening intervals from completed guided walks as Mindful Minutes in Apple Health, excluding pauses. You can also connect walking workouts and explicitly save each completed outdoor session, with active guided duration and available recorded distance. With distance read and write permission, existing Health distance samples are associated without adding extra distance entries. Declining distance writing saves workout duration only; readable existing workouts are checked to help avoid duplicates. All Health permissions are optional and available without Plus. Apple manages Health storage and syncing; app data deletion does not remove already-saved Health entries. The App is not a medical device and its step, distance, and listening-time figures are informational only.

8. Intellectual property

The App, including its guided audio sessions, original text, design, and software, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and other laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes on Apple devices you own or control, subject to Apple’s App Store terms. The Bible translations bundled with the App (World English Bible, King James Version, American Standard Version, and Bible in Basic English) are in the public domain. You may not copy, distribute, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the App except as permitted by law.

9. Your content

Reflections you write and conversations you have with the companion remain yours. You grant us only the limited rights needed to operate the App — for companion messages, the right to transmit them to our AI processor to generate a reply, and, for reports you submit, the right to review the reported reply and your reason for safety purposes.

10. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time and delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access to server-dependent features (the companion) for violation of these Terms, abuse, or as required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive (disclaimers, limitations of liability, intellectual property) survive termination.

11. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI-GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE OR APPROPRIATE FOR YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR PERSONAL INJURY ARISING FROM YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY WHILE USING THE APP, AND OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR US $50. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THESE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, and both parties consent to their jurisdiction. These Terms contain no arbitration clause and no class-action waiver — you keep your ordinary right to bring a claim in court. Nothing in this section deprives you of mandatory consumer protections of your place of residence.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms at this page with a new effective date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

15. Apple

These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the App and is not responsible for it, but Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
