Choose the help you actually need
You can pray on a walk with nothing but a passage you remember. You can also bring a Bible app, a step tracker or a guided prayer walk. They help with different parts of the experience. The right choice depends on whether you want to choose your own passage, see your movement, or be led through Scripture and prayer.
We make Walk Faithful, so this comparison explains our own app’s role rather than ranking every other app. Features vary between Bible and fitness apps; check the one you use.
Three approaches, side by side.
| Approach | What it helps you do | What you choose yourself |
|---|---|---|
| A Bible app | Read or, where available, listen to a passage you choose. | How to move from the passage into prayer, how long to pause and when to finish. Some apps also offer guided plans or devotionals. |
| A step tracker | See movement such as steps or distance, depending on the app and permissions. | The Scripture, prayer and quiet that accompany those steps. |
| A guided prayer walk | Follow a prepared sequence of Scripture, reflection, prayer and quiet. | Which session to use, what to bring to prayer and whether to walk outside or listen indoors. |
A Bible app may be enough if you already have a passage.
If you want to spend a walk with Psalm 23, you may prefer to read it first, put your phone away and return to a line as you walk. If your Bible app has audio, you can listen and pause when you want to pray. You decide the pace and the shape of the time.
That flexibility can be a strength. You do not need a separate prayer-walking app to make the walk meaningful. Our guide to praying while you walk gives you a simple place to begin.
A step tracker helps when movement is what you want to notice.
Steps and distance can make a walking habit easier to see. They do not tell you whether a prayer was sincere or a walk brought you closer to God. You can use a tracker alongside your own prayer, or leave the numbers out of the experience.
Walk Faithful can optionally read steps from Apple Health and save Mindful Minutes or a completed outdoor walking workout. It is not a route-navigation app or a training plan, and Health access is not required.
A guided walk helps when you want words and space to begin.
When your mind keeps wandering or you do not know what to say, a prepared session can offer a passage, a breath prayer and a little direction. Walk Faithful’s sessions are usually 12 to 14 minutes, with real silence between the words. Audio continues with the screen off, so you can put the phone in your pocket.
The current app has 21 sessions across Morning, Anxiety and Gratitude series. It also offers indoor practice, a 28-day walking path and four Scripture keepsakes. Those 28 days track your practice; they are not 28 different recordings.
You can combine them without paying for everything.
Walk Faithful includes a free featured guided walk each day and five offline Bible translations. The walking path, keepsakes and optional Health features stay free. You might use the featured walk one day and pray with a passage on your own the next.
Plus is optional when you want to choose any of the 21 sessions on demand, with a higher limit for the optional AI companion. It costs $39.99 per year, $6.99 per month or $149.99 once at current US prices. Compare the plans and billing terms.
Your practice, at your own pace.
Use the approach that helps you pray. Walk Faithful is an iPhone app for iOS 17 or later, not a live prayer group or a human counselor. The AI companion is optional and separate from the guided recordings. You can skip it entirely.
